FUN
Learning happens best when we are in a happy atmosphere. We can work hard and still laugh and enjoy ourselves. I want students to feel relaxed and enjoy their lessons.
PATIENCE
Everyone who has learned something started at the beginning. I am patient with students who are trying. I do not expect perfection, but I do expect an attempt to try. Mistakes are inevitable. All musicians make mistakes, even professionals. They just don't let mistakes hold them back. .
LEARNING
There will be opportunities to learn all types of music. Once the beginning level is past, we begin to add in music of interest to the student as well as traditional piano music. This is when it gets really fun for everyone. After all, isn't this why we take piano lessons? We want to play music we, our family and friends, can enjoy. My goal is for the student to become familiar with all kinds of music. I also encourage creativity in the student.
OPPORTUNITIES TO PERFORM
I have a spring recital each year. This allows for students to play in front of an audience. It also allows for the students to hear each other. The more advanced students inspire and encourage the beginners. For students who wish to perform more there are festivals and other opportunities for which they can prepare. I will happily help them choose music and prepare them for them as well.
